This is something I have been doing that adds a unique look to your landscape. I take pendant lights and hang them from low limbs creating a chandelier appearance while accenting the landscape below. This same lighting can be installed in outdoor structures such as pergola, gazebos and porches. We can take it further by changing out the white bulbs for color bulbs for a seasonal look.

Path lighting is a must. This will provide safety and beauty in your landscape. I like to use a softer light to prevent this from overpowering your landscape. Also, it is important not to overdo this because it will become a runway for aircraft. I like to alternate the sides where possible and allow the light to slightly meet the next light cast. Path lights can also be used in highlighting low growing plants and sod.

This is used to highlight a specimen tree, plant or object. Unlike uplighting, I place the landscape light(s) out several feet according to the size of the object I would like to spotlight.

This is a great effect to have in your landscape. I like to choose a large tree with a oval or round canopy. Oaks, Elms or Maples make great specimen trees for moonlighting. I would place one or more large landscape lights in the top of the tree casting light downward casting limbs structure onto the ground which mimics the moonlight. This is a neat way to light a patio or walkway too.

Deck lighting can add a great light element while providing safety. There are several options we have to light up steps, post and floors. 

 

Hardscape lighting can add a great light element while providing safety. I have fixtures that will fit underneath a lip of a retaining wall cap casting light down the wall highlighting the texture of the stone, brick or even wood.
